Takeaway “The Codfather” Best Name In The UK

118Menu LogoA Nationwide UK Poll of users has voted the gangster inspired fish and chip shop ‘The Codfather’ as the wittiest and best named takeaway.

 

Over a third of 118Menu.co.uk users of the online takeaway ordering website 118menu.co.uk/, voted that Cheshire’s The Codfather was the best named takeaway in the UK’, receiving 37 per cent of the votes. Yorkshire’s quirky ‘Wok This Way’ was placed in at number two after it gained 26 per cent of nominations.

Third and fourth place were awarded to London favourites Hard Wok Café and Fishcoteque, with 14 per cent and 13 per cent of the votes respectively with Yorkshire’s Chip in Dale’s in fith position taking away 10 per cent of the votes.

Mark Hall, founding director of 118Menu.co.uk says: “When we first started 118 Menu, we were amazed at how many eccentric takeaway names there were out there.

“We have searched high and low to find the best takeaway names to put to the public vote in order to crown one lucky outlet ‘The 118Menu.co.uk Best Named Takeaway in the UK’.

“There were many strong contenders but our voters have certainly not let us down – The Codfather is a highly deserving winner – lets hope no one ends up ‘sleeping with the fishes’.”

Owner and manager of the Codfather, Matthew Orange, commented: “It is fantastic that we have been voted ‘The 118Menu.co.uk Best Named Takeaway in the UK’ – our name certainly gets us plenty of attention and we have many loyal customs who keep coming back to us not put off with our mafia connotations!”

The 1,260 118Menu.co.uk users voted that the UK’s top five takeaway names are:

1.The Codfather (37%)
2.Wok This Way (26%)
3.Hard Wok Café (14%)
4.Fishcoteque (13%)
5.Chip in Dales (10%)
